Stars Without Number

Welcome to your campaign!
A blog for your campaign

Wondering how to get started? Here are a few tips:

1. Invite your players

Invite them with either their email address or their Obsidian Portal username.

2. Edit your home page

Make a few changes to the home page and give people an idea of what your campaign is about. That will let people know you’re serious and not just playing with the system.

3. Choose a theme

If you want to set a specific mood for your campaign, we have several backgrounds to choose from. Accentuate it by creating a top banner image.

4. Create some NPCs

Characters form the core of every campaign, so take a few minutes to list out the major NPCs in your campaign.

A quick tip: The “+” icon in the top right of every section is how to add a new item, whether it’s a new character or adventure log post, or anything else.

5. Write your first Adventure Log post

The adventure log is where you list the sessions and adventures your party has been on, but for now, we suggest doing a very light “story so far” post. Just give a brief overview of what the party has done up to this point. After each future session, create a new post detailing that night’s adventures.

One final tip: Don’t stress about making your Obsidian Portal campaign look perfect. Instead, just make it work for you and your group. If everyone is having fun, then you’re using Obsidian Portal exactly as it was designed, even if your adventure log isn’t always up to date or your characters don’t all have portrait pictures.

That’s it! The rest is up to your and your players.

Come Together Over Guttman

Group formed by Trapper Guttman to retrieve extremely rare Artifact that will require a number of steps to gain access

First step was acquiring an item in an auction on Gateway in pod 6. We were given 1K credits to achieve this. Liberty attempted to gain some insight into the auction and local players but failed (and now we know why).

The auction proceeds apace with the first four items are being bid on and sold. Then the auctioneers, Jack and Valerie are headshot by Revenge Droids. The team engages and defeats them with Jade destroying most of them by herself. Our healer stabilizes the auctioneers.

The door to the pod area starts to be sealed from the inside. We loop around and find more Revengers in the back with a dead body. We make short work of them and move into the back of the Auction House. We move through the warehouse, finding sealed doors. Maxwell Anders is almost killed by hot coffee blast but manages to avoid it.

We make our way to Jack's office and turn off the lockdown. We sneak through the main courtyard, avoiding <animals>. In the pod storage area, we find 1-4 and 6 open. Our pod is opened with coffee beans spilled all over. We grab the pod, the beans and the pod in bay 5 and head out after it's clear that the bad guys have left.

We learn from a local vagrant that the woman and dog we saw earlier left in a high-end aircar. We learn that it's <name> heir to <name> fortune and she retrieved a book that our boss wanted. It was determined that it would be nearly impossible to go after her. The boss recommends we retrieve a copy from <name> who lives in a local area asteroid. He lends us his light ship for the task.

<name> is a queen of <race> who indicates that our boss had been there a number of times and agrees to give us her copy in exchange for 300 Fire Crabs from Sepulchre (not Serpico). We fly to the planet, scanning for an optimum location (near volcano vents) to retrieve our cargo.

We land and head towards the area where we're ambushed by a Mauler. After defeating it, two figures, from the Idris Clan invite us to their camp for trade. After nattering for hours about their backstory (while we lightly trip balls) we work out an agreement to take out humanoid creatures raiding their territory in exchange for them filling our cargo area with Fire Crabs.

12 easy parsecs – Or as Alex calls it, “Who was Killed ?

Savanna was attempting to contact the members of the team that had gone with the Ydris over the comm but was met with hi pitch static, suddenly the air lock open open alarm flashed on the control console. Drawing her laser she walked back to the cargo bay to check out what was happening. When she get there she see's three odd figures, that appear to be a mixture of flesh and robotic. Chicken like the trio look Savanna over before breaking out to a scream that matched the sound of the static on the radio. They hack at Savanna with diamond coated hand axes and severely wounded her. Savanna manages to make it to cargo bay door and seal the creatures in the bay. Savanna makes it the cockpit and lift the Star bolt into orbit and venting the creatures into space.

The rest of team that were with the Ydris heads back to the ship, not knowing that it is in orbit, they come across the scene of apparent mercy squad sent to investigate the report of a ship landing on the planet. The Mercs appeared to be beaten to death, and there are indications they were raped ( yes even the men) and were gnawed on, with bite size chunk removed from their bodies. The Merc weapons are missing, taken by their attackers, and there is indication that at least one of the merc was dragged off by their attackers.

The party continues on to the landing site of the star bolt and finds that it is gone. They decide to track the attackers of the mercs, which leads to an old Mandate's bunker. The enter the bunker and run into three creatures, the same kind that had attacked Savanna on the ship. The creatures are armed with single shot bolt rifles, apparently taken from the merc and one manage to shoot Jade, rendering her unconscious. Yogi slaps a Lazarus patch, while Maxwell unloaded on the creatures with his distortion cannon . The fight goes hand to hand and Yogi and Maxwell managing to slay the creatures, finishing in time to receive a hail from Savanna on-board theStar Bolt.

Savanna lands the ship at the entrance of the bunker the team rushes jade to the sick bay, and spend the next three healing up their wounds, while Maxwell cover the entrance of the bunker with his cannon, hopping to catch any more of these creature leaving the complex. The next three days are uneventful, and the team enters the bunker in force.

The bunker is a labyrinth and after a series of twist and turns, the team arrives at a reception area the has been converted to a shrine with holo picture of a kitty on the shrine. There are no obvious exits from the room, till they find a passageway covered by a hard light holograph. After another series of twist and turns they arrive at a chamber with a pool, seven more of the creatures the team battle earlier are in the process of bathing and rushes the party when they spot them. The battle is short and sweet with the team prawning their opponents. While the room has no treasure, it does lead to another chamber filled with a garden of rare earth plants. Maxwell plunders some strawberries and team decide they will come back and loot the garden. They continue on and find a library filled with old tomes and data slab containing ancient Mandate knowledge. Unfortunately the library spring up an electric barrier blocking anyone from leaving the room with any of its material.

Vowing to return, the team continues on, finding a bunk room which housed the garrison of the complex, now abandon. Finding a passage leading to the armory, Maxwell leading the team watches in horror as his Distortion Cannon, is sliced by monofilament fibers suspended in the corridor. Disarming the trap, the team empty the armory of the few items left behind. Returning back to bathing room. Several diamond barriers slide over the exist and water from the pool begins to rise. Struggling to escape, Maxwell notes that team is all wearing vac suits, while he wearing assault armor and should be able to survive under water.

Eventually the water will drain out the room and barriers will slide out of the way. Continuing making their way through the bunkers, they find and old electrical room and then a biological Lab. The lab contains tanks of shrimp like creatures and a human operating on a body. He greet the team and explains the work he doing.

Just before the scream, the Mandate was attempting to find ways to battle the growing rebellion, unsure of the loyalty of the Maestro's, the AI's that ran the Earth Mandate, they wanted to create synthetic soldiers that would operate independent of the Maestros. One's that could not be shut down. The bunker was created and experts in various field were both in to develop such a soldier, but when the Scream struck the human scientist fled leaving the operating character behind, who is really a rogue AI, that has been working for the last six hundred years on the project. The AI took the mantis shrimp, created artificial brains that mimick the shrimp behavior, them it encase in modified Echo Armature which are capable of forging new units by consuming their victim to produce replace soldiers.

A panel slides open as the AI finishes his story, revealing a Armature design to dismantles humans, the party open up on the AI, not realize it merely a puppet. The insuring battle results in Savanna going down and destruction of the Armature. As the party finish off the Armature, a holo of the AI is projected in to the lab, announcing a 20 minute countdown. The team struggle with Carrying Savanna and crazed Yogi who want to return to the library, but they remaining team members drags him out of the bunker just in time to watch a ship lifting off from the bunker, which is then consumed in a series of detonation, flattering the structure.

The team returns to the Ydris and show them the destroy bunker and the Ydris loads the Star bolt with the promised Fire Crabs. The team lift off with Yogi still cursing the Frankenstein AI for the loss of the library. They proceed to the edge of the solar system to drill back to Gateway.

Just before drilling out the party picks up a distress signal. They trace the signal to a planetoid where discover the wreck of alien space craft. Boarding the craft they find an Alien Lantern, the only item that seem to withstand the impact of the collision. Both of the team psychics get a odd feeling that seems to pass. After an intense debate it decided that they take the artifact, but keep it in the air lock.

As the ship drill, they are save at the last minute by the lantern which appear on the bridge and shines a light indicating the proper drill route. Yogi psychically probes the Lantern and discover that it is the Ultimate Compass, and it can show the route to any place in the universe. Yogi is thrilled and inform the group of their great fortune and team begins making plans of how they can cash in on this item.

The team returns to Ssath Asteroid and exchanges the crabs for the book and make their way back to Gateway. They hand Gutman the book, not informing him of their find. He give the team two days off as he examines the book. Yogi and the team goes on a shopping spree, and Yogi runs into the Assassin Micheal George, who is dress in odd robe of pink and rose. Micheal tell Yogi that he found the answer to life, and begins to tell him of the tale of mysterious Prophet which he was hired to kill. Sneaking pass her follower and dispatching her body guard, Micheal sneak up to her bed only to find she is behind him and in the following battle, she manages to tell Micheal all his secrets from his killing his pet dog and his high school Prom date. There is no judgment in her voice, and that as long as Micheal is true to his feeling that there was nothing wrong.

Yogi ask Micheal if he still an assassin,he said he no longer kill for money, which Yogi congratulate him for not being a killer any more, which Micheal correct him. He still kills, but not for money, but when the feeling come over him, and he demonstrate by snapping the neck of a passerby. Micheal slips into the crowd, leaving the party with the body, which the team medic revives with her psychic power. Yogi proceeds to hire two body guards and the team returns to Gutman. Gutman has discover that there is a star map, in ancient ruins on a planet outside the sector which will lead them to the treasure he seeks.

The Team prepares, Yogi filling the ship up with extra food to feed his body guards and the team proceeds to drill out of the system. They intercept the call of Gateway Naval frigate engaged in combat with a pirate raider, requesting aid. Rushing to help, the Team flees the combat as soon as they get hit with a fractual charge which inflicts heavy damage.

The Guards reply that after escaping certain death they need a drink, and they grab a couple of beers from the bridge. Downing the beers both guards fall dead. The beer and part of the food supply was poison. The team separate the poisoned food and storing the Guards bodies. The party continues on to Gansu. The trip through Gansu system is uneventful, the team continues on to Hutton. They bypass the planet and decide to refuel using a gas giant. En-route to the gas giant they almost run into unplotted asteroid field. Escaping collision the team discovers that the field is recorded but deleted from feed to the pilot console.

After Drilling into the next system, Vyborg, Mercs that were hidden under the grills in the cargo bay attempt to take control of the ship. Yogi bribes them after discovering that the they are being payed the same amount as the individual cut of the party last haul. The team drills on to Chifeng where they deposit merc after informing them of a bomb hidden on board as a fail safe if the mercs were unable to for fill their mission. The team makes goes over the craft, for any more hidden surprises and find none, all system check out and the team drills on to Octlan.

In Octlan the team decide to Skim the sun to refuel. During their approach to the sun, the temperature begins to rise, Savanna and Jay check the heat exchange and discovers that the mirror matter heat coil is missing. Jury rigging a replacement they manage to dock at Octlan to buy a replacement. Yogi dials the compad number that mercs were contact from and the medic compad rings. He then attempts to probe the Lantern again and fails, suspecting that it is behind the string of incidents that have befallen them. They take the Lantern to a junk yard and attempt to have it crushed in industrial diamond forge, which breaks. After attempting to sell it to junk dealer, they sell the Lantern to the Papademetriou Zaibatsu Astro tech company. A company Psychic scan the Lantern and reveals that it is evil and was planning to have the team kill each other till only one remain and then have that survivor space themselves so it could be alone on the ship. They place the Lantern into a Stasis field in order to store it for future study. The team proceeds to Coatlan with no further issue. From Octlan the team drill onto final destination, the Urteaga System and the planet Yanez.

When they jump into the system and approach the planet, they are intercepted by two Patrol ships of the New Texas Navy. They warn the team that the planet is a protected system and that the NTN guard the system by the request of the planet government of the Jholong people. The planet contains a failed human colony. The Native of the planet, Jholong have incorporated the human survivors into their society. The Jholong descended from Raptor like avian, have evolved to a flightless species that still love to hunt and are stuck at a tech level of the 20 Century earth.

This was mainly due to the collapse of their society when they were contacted by humans from the Flower union a century before the scream. Their religion base on a Sky god ( alien visitor) could not bear the knowledge of other being other than their sky gods. The Collapse of Human Colony due to the scream brought a revival of the old gods, marking humans as false gods. The Theocracy that has rose in the after math of the scream has placed the human inhabitants as a kind of untouchables or scrape goats, where humans filled in positions that that Jholong consisted unclean . Contact with the New Texas Republic of the Sandhya system has renewed contact with human worlds of the sector. The Agreement allows the Texas Navy to man the old Mandate Space station, in return for protection from the worlds of Tzannetakis and Hildigunn who have fought several wars in the last 200 years, which have left the neighboring world of Gurdrid a radioactive waste land.

They are escorted to an old space station where they are instructed to contact the Jholong ambassador on the station. The Jholong ambassadors is member of the priesthood and he address Yogi in a condescending manner, as humans are lowest tier of the Planet's society. There is a major disagreement between the party as were worry that Yogi would start an incident, instead Yogi talks the ambassador into letting them down to the planet. They take a reentry capsule to the planet…

Mission of mercy

Log 3

The team lands on the planet in an reentry capsule provided by the ambassador, not suspecting that it is a trap. They are greeted by a single human who instruct them to hurry if they wish to live. They are lead through a series of narrow alleys till they reach the border of Human town where they are lead in to sleazy bar.

Inside they meet the Human's master, a Jholong flanked by two Qotah body guards ( Qotah race had fought a long and bloody war with mankind before the scream), named Kaaiiriiefiikee, but you can call him Sam, that speaks human with a New Texas accent. He informs the team that they were set up and that he will help them, that all he needs is a small favor done in exchange, a delivery of a rare Piano to the Pleasure moon Elysium, the Svala system to the Maestro in exchange of a rare Holy relic stolen by the human settlers before the scream.

The party agrees and is led back to the landing field and escorted to a private yacht own by a team of Xeno archaeologist, the pilot has been bride to take them back to the space station and has the Piano on board for them to ferry Elysium.

The transfer of the piano goes without a hitch and they are supplied with a drill map to the Svala system. They first jump into the Sameh system, where a war was fought between several neighboring system was fought, as a result a massive radiation accident occurred that had weaken the immunity system of the inhabitants of the system main planet Gudrid.

They receive an SOS from the Gudrid station requesting assistant as a Passenger liner has had an outbreak and a medical team is looking for passage to the Liner but are none of the system ships are willing to help due to the threat of infection. The team volunteer, and dock with the station letting on the Medical Team from Svala.

They board the Liner also from the Svala System and are amazed as the Svala apparently are a tech 5 civilization and is highly advance. The medical team go to work on a sick passenger while the party is lead on a tour of the engine room. Their they learn that the Ship is power by a Quark Nugget, which is extreme dense form of matter, denser than Neutronium, that produce antimatter to fuel the engine.

During the tour they start to notice something strange about the crew, that one of the crew member giving the tour is arm, while the other that have giving the tour is not. When ask the arm crew member remark that when the illness hit the ship some of the passengers started to panic and crew had to use force to restrain them.

Liberty come to the conclusion that the ship is hijacked with hijacker being arm and holding the crew and passengers as hostage. The party leaves and later reboard the ship thru the airlock on the liners shuttle and battle to take back the ship. The surviving hi jackers lock themselves in the cockpit and attempts to crash the liner into the planet. The team manages to override the terrorist controls and kills the remaining hi jacker.

The Leader of the medical team thanks the party and seeing that their ship is damage, tell them that her family owns the space docks at Elysium and will have their ship repair for free, she also slip Liberty her Compad number..

Rebellion at the Concert Hall

Drilling into the Svala System the team contact the station at Elysium, they are directed to land at the space port, where they are greeted by the Maestro and his retinue. The ancient piano is examined by Maestro Piano tuner who is pleased at the condition the ancient Piano is in. The Maestro is so over joyed that he ask the players to stay a few night on his dime and attend the concert he is to performed.

They are served by Crystal being , the native inhabitant of the moon that now work as servants for the Resort.

Crystal buys a language Torc that allow us to speak and understand the Crystals aliens musical language, and the whole team purchase new cloths to attend the concert. Holo-costume are the latest in fashion and the team outfit themselves.

The Day of the concert, the party enter the Concert hall to discover that Crystal aliens are in the state of revolt. Attempting to rescue the Maestro that was taken hostage they discovered that the Crystal aliens have been driven into a frenzy by an ultrasonic sound that mimic the distress call of their young.

They discover that the sound was being produce by a ultrasonic generator being used by a team of thieve to cover their theft of the Piano. The Team get into a fire fight , where Liberty put a round into the piano by accident. They overcome the Thief and shut down the generator.

The Damage to the piano is slight and will not effect it sound. The Maestro give the team a private concert, where Liberty is so overcome by the music that he begins to weep…

Rise of Rose

The session begins with the party standing in the valley of the Alien ruins. The Alien tower lay on mud plane which floods when ever a heavy down pour hits the area. The party cannot shake off the feeling that they being watch, and when they scan the area they find a mud cover human hiding behind a boulder. Yogi uses his psychic ability to help him understand the gibberish that coming from the mud cover human. The tower is dangerous, and he points to pit containing a collection human and alien Yanish's bones.

Examining the bones they discover an indication that individual that they belong to were killed by gun fire, but the team continues toward the towers. When they get close enough to spot the entrance, the mud cover human draws a pistol and gun shots rings from the entrance way of the ruins. Both Yogi and the Medic are mortally wounded. Savanna grabs the unconscious Yogi and flees while Jade applies a Lazarus patch on the medic.

Jade surrenders, and the Mud man tell her it too late. Raising his pistol to shoot her, his head suddenly explodes. Hovering over the ruins is a air car containing several New Texas Rangers. They have been investigating a gun running operation by human smugglers. The Rangers find several crates filled with combat rifles, ammo and grenades. The rangers return the party to the Ranger's head quarters so they can be treated for their wounds.

Returning to the ruin via a grav car lent by the Rangers, the party finds that the entrance of the ruins plugged by mud. Using his TK power Yogi, pulls the mud from the entrance way. The party searches the ruins, finding a blade less hilt, an alien cube that blares music, and eventually the map room that project a map of the skies as they were 100 thousand years ago. The they take pictures of the map, some aliens runes and holograph pictures in another holo room.

Returning to their ship, the professor that Yogi hire tell them that their passenger is in town and would like to talk to them. Going into town, they find their passenger in the tavern where Fog Horn leghorn owns. Their passenger tell them that he will be remaining on the planet but would like them to deliver the computer he brought aboard to his contact on Octlan. They will need to first hook the computer to their sensor and com system and linger at a location in the system till computer light goes from amber to green. The party agrees and they take off.

While loitering at coordinates given to them, A Cruiser from the Planet Hildigunn hails them announcing that they are going to board them to insure that they are not pirates or smugglers. The captain of the Cruiser invite the crew to dinner, where he flirts with the female party members and laurels the virtues of Hildigunn. After several hours of enduring the Captains attentions and war stories the boarding party reports that the ship is clear of contraband but has found the computer. Yogi uses his persuasion skills he talk their way out of any problems and they are clear to go.

The Team drills to Octlan, where they are met at the dock by the contact. She pays the team after checking the server. She also offers them 500 credits to ferry a squad of Infinity Guard Mystics to Chifang, they meet the mystics and take them to Chifang. During the trip, small items disappear, the video camera aboard the ship cannot detect who stealing them, the theft stops after the passengers debark. The rest of the trip to Gateway is uneventful.

Drilling into Gateway system the party detect a container, drifting in space. Retrieving the container, they spot Mandate Military marking and decide to turn it over to the authorities. They check in with Gutman, who is happy to see them. He invite the team to a party he is throwing and ask them to come in their best outfits as the movers and shakers of Gate Way will be there. Thrill at their prospect of wearing the outfits they acquire at the moon of Elysium the party prepares for the party. Yogi hires a body guard, a high price Courtesan and a gopher to be his retinue.

The next night the party arrives at the party, Yogi body guard is force to wait outside the ball room and the party enter. They spot Holo screen stars, politicians and even Rose mixing with other party goers. As the team mixes with the other party goers, there is a sudden up roar as the Assassin Michael George kills a cyber-ninja three feet from Rose that managed some how to sneak into the party. Yogi and Jade decide to talk to Rose.

Making their way over to her, Yogi engages Rose on her beliefs. Rose explain that she believes that people should just be true to their feeling, stating that the if the moment is right to live in it. Yogi argues that is anarchy. Rose argues that only real change for good comes from people releasing their inhibitions. She ask Yogi if he want to see something, and he replies yes. Next thing he knows he starts stripping his clothes as everyone but Savanna and Jade begins stripping their clothes also. Jade escort Yogi from the room before the party break out into an orgy. Anger that Rose made him lose control, Yogi vows vengeance.

The next day the party meets with Gutman, he inform them that he introduces them to the Count

Yoshiro du Saint-Grave. The Count is looking for help in locating his daughter, who has joined a cult. He originally ask Rose who refuse due to the fact that if daughter join the cult willingly then Rose would not interfere in the girl's free will. The Count give them a photo of his daughter and her last known location, the warehouse sector near the space port.

Investigating the party comes across a drunk who tell the party that the Cult had moved out of their warehouse quarters, he hand them a brochure for Winter Gardens, a mountain resort. He also reveals that the movering trucks had a logo of a flying unicorn. They search the planet web and find the name of the moving company and proceed to the company office. The receptionist refuse to reveal any information as it is confidential. Savanna hacks the planetary traffic control system to find where the moving trucks went.

The team goes to the coordinates to find the private reserve of the Count's daughter. The estate is surround by a security grid that projects a laser grid. Savanna attempts to hack the grid and fails. A squad of robotic dogs attacks the party which they defeat. Yogi attempts to bypass the grid with a boulder that destroyed by the laser grid. Yogi then attempts to destroy one of the pillars of the grid which cause a security team to be dispatch to investigate. The party engages in a fire fight which causes

planetary police to be dispatch, at this point the party flees to regroup.

Yogi's Lament

As the team regroups at a nearby lodge, they hear hovercars and gunfire nearby. Liberty sneaks out to scout out the situation. He sees a group of agents with a coat of arms on their jackets along with an elderly man (The Count) leading and Rose. As Michael Paul emerges from the compound with a young woman who is revealed to be the Count's daughter

Liberty emerges from the woods and learns that the Count's team stormed the compound while we unwittingly provided a distraction. They reveal that all the people, including our target, had been Mind Controlled.

We return to Guttman and debrief him. He gives us a new assignment. He is looking for time on a special computer network. For that he's going to give them two packets of Gigelium(?) a substance that enhances tech. However, to get that, 4 mining mechs need to be delivered to the Gigelium mine on a moon in the Gateway system. This is our task. We set off in the ship to the mining moon.

The moon has an illegal blockade that we plan to circumvent by disguising our boxes as foodstuffs also altering our manifest.

6 hours out of Gateway, we detect a ship on an intercept course. Scans reveal that it is an unarmed scout representing the financial house, Exchange of Light. It is on an intercept course. They maintain radio silence. Liberty surmises that they must be sending a communique that can't be sent over the radio. Others are less optimistic. It catches up with our ship and moves alongside, but does not signal.

We reluctantly dock with the ship. But nothing happens. We do a deeper scan and find no life forms or even electronic signals aboard. Savannah hacks the camera system and we see that there is a strange green goo around the ship along with 3 outfits. This fast courier usually has a 3-man crew. We also see a canister similar to the one we found earlier but this one is open. We assume that this is effectively a plague ship, contact the Gateway Traffic office and send an image of the canister for comparison to the one we dropped off previously. We continue to the mining moon.

Heightening our paranoa, there's no greeting on our arrival at the Gigelium mine. But we are able to dock. Oddly, we have to cross an open bay with no atmosphere to drop off the boxes. We bring one box into the foyer where a bot extends a commpad with the administrator, Yayson, on it. He says that the Foreman is out on the surface and will complete the exchange when he returns. We leave the 1st box in the foyer and Yogi, our Healer and Liberty hang out in the lounge while the others maintain the ship.

Suddenly there's an alert on all screen that a Virus has infected the mine's systems. We head back towards the ship and run into Dr. Gleason. She informs them that all the mining mechs have gone haywire and risk opening the mine to space. We regroup, grab our heaviest armor and weapons and head to the command center.

The situation has three components. The Foreman, in a mining mech is stuck ont the surface; the rest of the mechs are running amok in the deep mines; a bunch of engineers are stuck in another section which contains a Reboot Gun which can shut down the mechs (so that we don't injure the helpless miners) and mining bots. They give us the other one which Liberty takes on the basis of having the best skill with it.

Yogi, the healer and Liberty go to the surface and rescue the Foreman while destroying the mining bots around him. The group then fights a running slog through the mine, first rescuing the engineers (minus one that was DOA) and then destroying the rest of the bots and shutting down the Mining bots.

As an expression of gratitude, they give us an extra cannister of Gigelium for Savannah. We head back to Gateway without incident.

Upon our return we learn that a fleet of mercs has arrived for shore leave calling themselves the Legion Vainglorious(?). They are famous for picking fights based on the challenge and nobility of the cause. They include mena and women, humans and aliens. As we land, we learn that they are everywhere on the planet, even our favorite watering hole.

They sing a sad song about the one battle that they've lost (out of 100). The team mumbles some annoyance and almost gets in a fist fight. Yogi spots a short female merc. We learn that her name is Terra and she is from a race that suffered an Independence Day level reckoning, needing to flee their planet. She indicates that she is many hundreds of years old, and mentions a plant that greatly extends life and possibly can provide immortality. Her race was contacted by (name of race) and given ships to find their missing relatives. She lost hers and is with the fleet which runs about the galaxy and hopes to find their missing sisters.

Yogi makes some inquiries that she feels are inappropriate. Ultimately, she slugs him, nearly killing him with one blow. A genius level Persuade attempt gets her to stop.

When we leave the bar, we're approached by a lady in a limo who requests our services. She claims to have a set of squatters, a religious group called the Aslan on her property. If we can persuade them to move (she indicates actual persuading and not violence) she'll give us 2000 cr.

Session ends.

Savannah's Six

The team begins their mission: Client requests the removal of a religious anti-tech group (cult) called Hava'a from her estate 3 hours from the Gateway Capital. We investigate and determine that 1) she does own the land in question and 2) the group really is squatting. We visit their store-front temple and learn that this is a sanctioned squat. Liberty learns the identity of one of the children of rich people, Fred Consigo that's in the group. From there, our computer techs figure out a list of ten people of the same stripe.

It's revealed that Savannah's data slab has been hacked.

We visit the mother of one of those cultists named Marilyn who agrees to either buy the estate or provide funds for another place for them. Armed with that info, we go to the estate to talk to the group. We explain the situation and attempt to reason them off the estate. Liberty mentions Octlan, a place full of natural 'beauty'. We go back and forth and end up nowhere. They won't move and Eve Kate won't sell.

We decide on a middle road of violence, and buy some gas grenades (500cr) and knock everybody out, ship them to a place that Marilyn has arranged for.

We receive 2000 cr (285 each + one share for group).

The group is contacted by another infortainer named Rex Ryder who's looking for security for a snipe hunt as part of prep for a cowboy film he's starring in. We fly to a small mining town of Redstone. There is a group of soldiers there hanging around. We settle in for the night, drinking and talking to the other hunters. We learn that snipes have become quite rare, only 2 were taken in last year's hunt.

We awaken to the sound of crashing and screams. The team comes out to a hoard of half a dozen snipes running roughshod in the inn. We kill them and check outside. There are even more. We barricade the door and fight them, killing them also. We move through the town and take out almost 20 of the beasts. 3 people are killed and at least a dozen injured. Rex gets some great pics for his movie.

We're paid 500cr each. We receive an adrenaline suppressor which we sell for 21,000 cr. We each get 3000cr. The group account has 5100cr in it at this point.

The soldiers and a scientist arrive and collect the bodies over our protests. Afterwords we determine that the snipes came from the space port and it's likely that the soldiers (who appear not to be real) released them. Subsequent investigation determines that the scientist is Doctor Zega, leader of the Chldren of Light cult (who dabbles in mind control) who the group encountered earlier in Session 7. We figure this out when the locals reveal that a group of white-robed clad people came a month ago and disappeared into the desert.

Yogi successfully tracks the soldier's shuttle to Electric Blue, a pleasure moon in the system.

We return to find our history professor has flown the coop, seduced by an unknown vamp. He's taken our text and a vital artifact with him. We learn that he also went to EB. We follow in Guttman's ship. Local currency is 2cr to 1 BlueBuck and a 1/1 conversion back. We start looking for our two  problems. While Liberty is perched in a bar, he's approached by a woman with a bionic arm. He speaks to a Guttman-type who wants to hire the team to go to Sirocco to rescue the data from a year-long survey there. He'll pay us 500cr each.

We find out that it's Raquel who 'took' our scholar. We capture and reprogram a cleaning bot to enter her suites with a camera. Our plan is to distract the people in there while the robot takes the artifact. We argue with the guards and Raquel until Savannah gets the bot to get out with the artifact.

We flee, contacting the bionic woman and meet them at the ship. We contact Guttman to arrange for a pilot to collect his ship. We head off to Sirocco.

Session 10 Log

The team departs Electric Blue with the wail of Security alert in the background. Maria ( The one-armed cyborg girl) comments, “is that because of you guys?” The party ignores the comment as they fly off in Dark Nova, Maria's ship. There is no pursue from the station and party begins their journey to Sirocco

Maria ask Marcus to accompany her to her cabinet, where she jumps his bones. Marcus is a little reluctant, and ask why. Maria answers, “To reveal any sexual tension between us.” Jacob ( the guy with the knitted Kola hat) ask if any of the ladies were interested to talk in his compartment. No takers.

After a day of travel to the drill point, the ship sensors pick up a large ship. The ship is on a heading toward Gateway, closer observation the ship is Azimuth-class Research Ship (5,000 tons, Azimuth class vessels are mobile research platforms dedicated to breakthrough scientific study during the era of the Mandate. The vessel is drifting and appears to be intact, but doesn't respond to communication hails. The PCs’ sensors give anomalous readings: the ship is there, yet not there.

There is a brief discussion on whether to board the craft or not, with Marcus and Maria being against, while Jacob and the rest of the party is for boarding the craft. As they are in the midst of the discussions, they are hailed by another craft, the Rabanza, a medium freighter, captained by the famous salvager, Captain Ram, experienced salvage claimer. He is wealthy and, within the salvage community, at least in his corner of the galaxy, he is famous. When local journalists need a quote about a salvage operation, they go to Ram.

Ram hails the party acknowledging their claim to the derelict, but offering his and his crew assistant in exploring the vessel. His crew consist of Gripper a security AI, Science officer Cherry ,Janan their linguist and Mortengal , a climber and cave diver. The Rabanza and Dark Nova perform a Lamprey Lock to match phases with the derelict.

They board the ship with the crew of the Rabanza, they find a tomb ship filled with skeletal remains. Exploring the craft they find plant-like aliens that have taken over the ship, Cherry uses some found incendiary grenades to fry the creator. They eventual find the captain quarter and discover his log and discover that the craft had a collision with another ship in deep drill, the collision cause a leak in the protective bubble that shield a ship from Metadimensional energy of deep drill. The leak caused the crew of the ship to go slowly insane.

The party finds the ship library and pull up the schematic in order to find how to shut the drill drive in order to return the ship into normal space. Making a beeline to the relay panel they encounter a creature that entraps the team, with only Marcus and Savannah avoiding being trapped. The creature manages to kill most of Rabanza's crew with exception of Mortengal, who was wearing a Titan Power armor that was found aboard the ship and Crystal revives them. Marcus and Mortengal continue on to the panel where they run into a humanoid creature with an octopus like head. After a fire fight that down Mortengal, Marcus, Savanna and Crystal kills the creature. Making their way back to the air lock they run into marines from Navy of Gateway that board when the ship return to normal space. They allow the team to keep all they manage to salvage but are taking the ship custody of Government of Gateway.

The Team continues to Sirroco with no issues. Once in orbit Jacob tell the team that he worked for the corporation that owns the down spaceship, and knows that he can locate it by pinging the probes that it carried. A starship arrives and challenge them saying that the downed ship belongs to them, Savanna loses them and lands on the surface 40 yards from the down research craft.

The Research craft was broken in half during the crash and they explore the front half of the ship that they landed near. They enter the ship and search for the data drives. After searching several cabinets and the bridge they locate the operation room where the data drives are stored. They are force to research the rooms to locate the drive removal tool. Marcus is slightly wounded when a vacuum closet explodes but they manage to remove the drive and leave the ship.

Upon existing the ship they run into a Knight of Black Satin and his mercs. He demands the drive and a fight ensues. Marcus is almost killed when struck with a beam from the Knight weapon, but uses his ability to escape harm from the attack. The team manages to down the knight which causes the mercs to flee. The party returns to the Dark Nova with the drive and Knight body.

Session 11 Log
The Merry Men of Shir-Wood

The Team prepares to leave Sirocco after finishing their project. However, as we go through flight check, the energy outputs seem to vanish. Power is being generated but it's not going anywhere.

We go outside to investigate and discover two man-sized scorpion-like creatures tearing into the drill drive. We attempt to drive them off but they attack. We kill them but discover they have already dissolved the magnetic coils of the drive. There's only one option: finding the back end of the research ship and cannibalizing parts for our ship. Savannah calculates the trajectory of re-entry and where the other half of the ship likely has landed, about a day's march away.

Leaving the NPC crew behind, the group heads out, taking a skiff with them to transport the equipment back. After about half a day, we get caught in a sandstorm that deposits some odd gunk on the ground. Despite Liberty forgetting how to handle it (failed a Survival Roll), our equipment allows us to weather the storm. After it dies down, a mass of worms emerge from the ground to feed on the newly deposited substance. They are harmless but the bird-like bugs that come to eat them aren't. We fight off a group of them and continue on.

Closer to our destination, we discover a large group of columns covered in a yeast like substance. Going around would take too long (We only have so much usable air left so we go through them. We discover the ship is in the middle of a field of mushrooms of varying sizes. After regretting not purchasing a telescoping pole, we head into the field where we kick up a column of spores. These are harmless if irritating to clean off our equipment. As we approach the ship, several of the larger mushrooms come alive and attack us. We defeat them.

A group of men wielding bows emerge and greet us, identifying themselves as the men of Shirwood. Their leader is Lord Shir, and they've taken up residence inside the ship. They were part of the ruling elite of a local oxygen mining colony before their 'king' was captured. They were set to pay a ransom in oxygen crystals when a villain named Guy stole it and took over.  They are willing to let us take parts from the ship if we assist them in righting this wrong.

We discuss options, including creating a primitive electrolysis system to generate oxygen out of a slurry of the yeast but dismiss it as too time intensive. We join them on a raid of the transport of the crystals. With our superior weapons, we disable the land-schooners' wheels and the Shirwood men get their crystals. Savannah spent the time working out an advanced spec on our idea. She presents it to their tech, Merlyn, who is non-plussed.

They drive us back to our ship. We effect repairs and take off. On our way out of the system, we are interdicted by a small pirate ship. We attempt to fight it off but its powerful weapon disables our ship. They sync up and cut a hole in the hull. Pirates pour in but our heavy weapons cut them to pieces, though we take some wounds.

The ship disengages suddenly and Savannah and Liberty are sucked out into space while our psychic holds on. The two are able to use their momentum to get to the other airlock and engage the pirate captain, Calos. A vicious hand-to-hand fight ensues but despite nearly taking our opponent out, Liberty succumbs to damage and lays dying.

Savannah makes a surprising offer. If the Pirate Captain agrees to leave Liberty with the other ship, she'll go with him. Since the pirate is now alone, he agrees. We effect repairs and head back to Gateway, intent on rescuing Savannah ASAP.

We arrive back at Gateway and arrange to meet our client. During the meeting we are arrested on an array of charges (ED: Can you break those down again?).related to our eviction job. We explain and get bailed out by Guttman. We ask him to find our client. He tsks us and says he wouldn't deal with that kind of scum. But he agrees.

Meanwhile, our Psychic gets a visit from her sibling, Japser, with some news. First, their father is dead, murdered by a pirate. Also the brother was now a sister, but that was a relatively minor development. She had been training for the last year to find and kill this pirate. In a bit of synchronicity, Calos is that pirate and he's here in Gateway.

We head to the bar he's located at and Liberty sneaks up behind him. He announces that there's a 500 credit (provided by Savannah's credit stick) at the bar for anyone who doesn't interfere. When he confronts Calos, Jasper steps in doing a "Inigo Montoya, you killed my father, prepare to die" bit. Liberty steps aside, as familial revenge trumps a personal grudge. Jasper kills the pirate after he tells us where Savannah is. We rescue her and seize the ship, The Dead Ringer.

Archie proposes renaming it Savannah's Folly. I counter with Savannah's Reward; after all, she earned it the hard way. We agree that she owns 50% of the ship and the rest of the group will split the other half.

Before we can pursue the money owed us by our Client, Guttman says he has a job for us:

The daughter of an old friend is fleeing the Burning Mirror compact. She is a widow of a Count and is presently being pursued by another noble. Our interest is that she has a trove of data on the items we need to find the Vault. She is presently on an ancient superliner headed for Gateway. He hasn't seen her in years so we get a picture off of news feeds.

The plan is to get to Chifeng, board the liner and keep an eye on her. We use our new ship to get there. We berth it, pay 2k for an paint and overhaul and to hold it till we get back. Guttman has provided us with first class tickets.  All weapons and armor are to be stowed in a security locker.

The first evening, there is a formal dinner allowing us to show off our holographic clothes. We are seated with a Rigellian scientist and explorer. We're a table over from the Countess. We observe that there is a man eyeing her and we make note of it.

A man starts hitting on the Countess and knocks out a person trying to intervene. Liberty knocks him out, endearing him to the Countess. This allows us to stay close and keep an eye on her.

We learn that the man at the dinner is named Felipe and he's part of a special military unit, the Eagle Warrior Society,  specializing in abduction for sacrifice. So he's our primary suspect.

The next stop is Vyborg, a Matriarchal planet. We go down with the Countess. The trip is uneventful until our transport shuttle was sabotaged on the way back up to the space station. Savannah fixes it and we continue on our way but it adds a wrinkle; we assumed that the Countess was at risk for capture. Who gains if she dies?
